What they don't know

by Just Me   Sep 23, 2008

What they don't know
can't hurt them
(it will only hurt me).

What they don't know
(that an open hand
hurts more than closed fists)
can't make them grieve.

What they don't know
(that words hurt more
than any physical pain could)
can't make them hurt.

What they can't see
(the bruises that cover
a small body)
can't make them ill

What they can't hear
(the pleading and crying,
begging him to stop)
can't make them fret.

What they don't know
(that I pray that God
would just take me away)
won't make them cry.

What they don't know
can't hurt them
(but it might kill me).

**This was something that happened to me a long time ago but it's been on my mind a lot lately so uh here it is...**
