Glen

by Katie   Dec 15, 2006

From the first time I saw you-
I saw pain behind your eyes,
I saw the mask you hide behind,
The mask that says \"I\'m fine.\"
I know so much about you,
But you know nothing about me,
And when I look into your eyes,
this is what I see:

A cloud of smoke to hide your pain,
To hide your rainy days,
A love you lost, and miss so much,
And since then, nothings been the same.
I see how much you beat yourself up,
For her getting away and letting her go-
I see all the sadness you feel,
That you hide and never show.
I see the person that you are,
Not the one you try to be,
I see a person, who feels lost,
Someone very much like me.
I see your daughter in your arms,
I know you wish she knew,
That she does have a father,
and that that father is you.
I see the smile you hide behind,
a smile so surreal,
I see how much you want to love again,
How badly you wish to feel,
someone in your arms again,
not just another one night stand,
I see you reaching out-
reaching out for someones hand.
I see a person thats so sad,
but that refuses to cry,
Instead you don\'t say a word,
and keep it all inside.
I see a person so worthwhile,
but that feels so low-
I see the man behind the smile,
the man that no one knows.
I see the pain you feel inside,
I see past your disguise.
This is really what I see,
When I look behind your eyes.

Dedicated to: My sisters friend Glen- Although I don\'t know you from a hole in the wall, I know so much, simply by looking beyond your disguise.
