Autumn

by Catty   Dec 20, 2006

A curvy road kissed with leaves from a pumpkin tree
Birth a mental image enfolded in nature's beauty
The pavement reflects what others fail to see
Against the roadside lay a trail of elapsed memories
The highway keeps the secrets my lips cannot
The mistakes of a life I have long forgot
Tears blend with raindrops and surface oils of a blacktop road
Releasing the pressure of this heavy mental load
A smile forms rejoicing the days I wake up to
A year older but many aspects new
I sing to the steering wheel in sync with the radio
Drowning out what I fail to understand and regret to know
But all roads render the "1000 miles" I left behind
While windows project the objects surpassing my mind
In this seat-my body encased with leather against my back
I'm plagued by deep thoughts of the answers that I lack
In my rear-view mirror lie all the worries of my Earth
As it hits the pavement I'm struck with a shudder of rebirth
Only one direction in my life and in my time
No longer must I re-live my "past" through words of rhyme
