10 Feet Away

by Lindsay   Dec 25, 2006

The congregation rose as a sign of respect
the young body was brought in
surrounded by silk
"he looks so different" a girl whispered
a boy in the third row wiped a tear
a sob rung out over the silence mass
"not one dry eye" thought the speaker
"he was a joy to all" explained a pale friend
standing infront of the zombies once called people
minds burdened with a terrible tale
"this is so sad" weeped a girl second row from the back
tired eyes fall upon the alter
she hasnt slept in days
still waiting for her baby to come home that night
to bad hes 10 feet from here in that box
all because someone drove drunk
