Depression

by Spidergirl Jess   Jan 3, 2007

Depression is an evil thing, it is.
So how do you know that you've overcome it from this, or conquered it from that?
You don't.
It's always there once you feel it, and it never goes away permanently.
You hide it all the time but you know you'll never be as happy as before the depression came.
Sometimes it's simple and lasts five minutes.
Other times it's not so simple and can last even five months.
But overall it's only one thing:
It's the addiction you don't crave.

Blah, David...I'm not talking about situational depression. I don't cry uncontrollably for hours and hours, contemplate killing myself..or any of that junk. I get really down a lot, everything bores me, and I get social withdrawal. Ahh, ok sorry for ruining this comment. Haha! Anyway, this is an excellent poem. Two months later and I stick to my original comment :)

Good poem, I've been severely depressed on and off for about 4 years. I can relate. 'addiction you don't crave' that part is AWESOME. being depressed is an addiction, but you certainly don't desire it. Good write. 5.5
