Promise of a Brighter Day

by Doug   Mar 29, 2004

Crawling into a dark hole.
Stumbling into this black abyss.
Trying to get away from it all.
How much further must I fall?

Who will be there to pick me up?
Will there even be anyone there?
This is my call for help.
Someone please catch me if I fall.

Giving up hope I trip over my ideals for peace.
Heading straight for the ground,
You appeared out of nowhere,
And caught me in your arms.

I never saw your face,
I only began to cry.
Someone came to my side –
Someone actually cares.

You spoke to me in a gentle soothing voice
Saying, “Things are going to be okay.”
“I promise tomorrow will be much better.”
A promise of a brighter day.
