Now I See

I have fought a battle all my life,
against love and happiness an endless strife.
I wanted them so badly, i gave everything i had,
but yet i was always left feeling sad.

Although i sacrificed everything i had,
i was always the one being treated bad.
People took advantage, they lied and deceived,
but in love i always believed.

Just when i felt i could no longer cope,
Ive met an angel because i dared to hope.
He is so funny he makes me smile,
if i sit and talk to him for a while.

Whenever i see him hanging around,
i no longer have any reason to frown.
He just stands there with his mischievous eyes,
i just wait for his smile to make my heart rise.

Now i have a friendship strong and true,
and i no longer feel sad or blue.
You once asked me out but i was too blind to see,
now i know i need you with me.

I understand how you now need your time,
i pray for the day when you will be mine.
For now being your friend is just about enough,
i forever hope one day you will be my love.

    Excellent poem ,the flow was good and wording was great all in all you did a wonderful job , great write, love this poem full of life and love , sense of peace ,but you captured my heart with this line and it fits my life to a T, thanks : I have fought a battle all my life,

    That ending stanza was the stanza that i really loved. It showed how much love you can have and how long it can last
