Thoughts Of You In The Dark Of Night

by Michelle   Mar 30, 2004

It's 3 a.m. baby,
And you're again on my mind
Until you're here in my arms
No solace will I find...
I'm anticipating moments
Longing for the day,
Reaching for the moon
And wishing time away...
Listening to old love songs
I haven't heard in a long time
Every melody makes me think
Of the man I want to be mine...
Every laughing look, teasing gaze
Every single sweet word you say
Makes me yearn for the time
Things will be another way...
It's hard to believe it will really happen
But we're both committed to this dream
It'll come true baby,
Even if for a while we're swimming all upstream...
I want so much just to hold your hand,
Cuddle you on the couch when something frightens me
Little everyday moments
That remind us of how things are meant to be...
When you get off that airplane
I'll meet you with a kiss and a smile
And tho it make take a bit longer yet
I'll be with you, in your heart, all the while.

    hiya average girl!!!!
never tire of reading yr latest poems mich, always eager to see yr newest work (wen i get the chance!!) you have been spoiling everyone on here lately with yr prolific creativity.
This poem, using yr skill of fully conveying a precise emotion state carrys yr exact impassioned pleas with accomplished clarity. the dead of night plays tricks with restless hearts, and the 3.am setting, along with the title, sets a mood of quiet lonliness. `no solace` (...solace, i like that word, gonna use it again!) no rest from the torment until you are finaly made whole again by being in the presence of your baby, your love. `longing` `reaching` comes across to me as an outstretched glasping heart, trying to stretch its sinews for the merest of contacts for `solace!` and comfort.
` wishing time away` ,`yearn for the time` reflects a disquietning hungry feeling gnawing away at yr peace of mind, distorting and fuzzing anything that isnt relevant to you and your soulmate. i find some consolation babe knowing that im not the only one going through this emotional turmoil.
Listening to old loves songs, re-discovering favourite tunes which hav now taken on new meaning as each and every line now appears relevant to you and your life. find myself doing that a lot lately, smiling and shaking my head when a particular lyric seems to be pointing its finger at me, taunting me.
`when you get of that airplane....kiss and a smile` hey, what about the `old english custom` we talked about! oh i forgot, you dont do that do you!!! My most favourite line of this poem, of any of your poems, has to be `ill be with you, in your heart, all the while.` awwww and you say i always know the right things to say. thank you michelle for just being you. really hope* for the sake of my sanity and yours that dreams do come true!!! (*just another excuse to look at THAT picture!!!hehe) 5/5 xxx
