The Things You Keep

The Things You Keep
Where is your smile today baby doll
Is the pain inside to great for you to bare
Your face is pale and your deep eyes are hollowed out
You try to pretend that you are all the way there
But most of you has gone away
Leaving you with your pain
Hidden under your sleeves on your skin
Where all the anger and hurt comes out in disdain
Little girl why did you decide this life wasn't worth living
Your numb down to the deepest part of you
And your crying to the darkness for one escape
That can make this all bearable to get through
But little one you are dying from your relief
And only driving the knife deeper inside
Your tired and worn out from this life
Wishing there was one place to confide
Your world has broken to the very last piece
It lays shattered among the mess of your life
Your trying to gather it all up and keep it safe
But it all cuts you deeper than your knife
Cry out everything in you screams
And you are laying upon the floor in your tears
Fighting yourself to let go of the techniques you practice
The ones that seem to only cause more pain and deeper fears
It seems impossible to give up what you knew
And the things you thought you had loved so deep
But you finally see the truth hidden within
That you will die if these things you keep
