A Mother's Touch

by Amanda Andrews   Jan 16, 2007

Soothing.
She whispers a song in my ear.
Gentle.
She rocks me back and forth.
Peaceful.
Her heartbeat is beating with mine.
Tenderness.
She hugs me tight.
I remember this like it was yesterday.
I remember the smell of her perfume, the smell of her hair and even the smell of her clothes.
She looked beautiful that day.
She still is.
I remember when she looked into my eyes and smiled at me.
I acknowledged her with a meek smile of my own.
The closeness of a mother's touch lasts an eternity.
An eternity of love, happiness, and joy.
Life moves forward.
I don't realize it now, but I'm all grown up.
I sit next to her.
I lay my head on her shoulder.
The memory of my mother's touch appears in my head.
I close my eyes and wish i were little again.
