I Pray (poem)

I Pray
© Kaitlyn Flynn

Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the lord my one to keep
To keep his love, his beauty still.
To wake upon a newborn thrill.

I pray to keep him by my side,
With love and lust and morning pride.
To kiss and laugh upon forever.
For our love shall seize nor sever.

I never wish to leave him lone
Since our love has only grown.
From the first I glanced into his eyes,
I saw our love and heard no cries.

I pray to keep this love a last.
And to forget this shrilling past.
I pray to keep him by my side.
With love and lust and morning pride.
