Pencil

It is round,
yellow,
sharp.
She lowers it to the paper
to express her pain.
It is now dull.
She feels like the pencil,
in a way,
because so many people use her,
abuse her,
so she sharpens herself up,
and waits to disappear
into an endless trail of writing,
fighting,
and ultimately life.
