Crying Inside

by Lyndsay Kalyta   Jan 26, 2007

I haven't seen you in ages,
Man, it's been long, how've you been?
I finally started to get myself together
Getting back on track again

I finally put the past behind me
Let go of feelings I've held onto for far too long
I've finally started seeing life as it is
Accepting the fact that you're gone

I'm keeping a smile on my face
Laughing along with everyone else
I've been putting the pictures of you away
To help me forget the way I felt

Instead of lying beside you at night
I lie alone with my faded dreams
I spend my time thinking in the darkness
Attempting, but failing to get any sleep

Man, you're looking wonderful
Time has been good to you
But seeing you with a ring on your hand
Reassures me this is still all so true

You're glad to see I'm doing great
But if you take a closer look, I'm sure you'll find
It's taking all my strength to hold me together
Because, really, I'm still crying inside

Great job on your poem. The pain of seeing one you still love that loves another comes through in your words. Good job!

Ya, Dave, that is exactly what I was doing. She was telling him how she's moved on...when really, she hasn't. Good to pick up on that! thanks for your comment!
