One Dream

by Akuji Shea   Jan 27, 2007

In class one day on paper
We were asked to write our dreams
Bobby raised up his hand
And said, "What do you mean?"

She tried to explain it
Tried to make us understand
But we still didn't get
She said "Let me try again."

"A Dream is what you wish for
A Dream is something you want
A Dream is something to look forward to
No matter what you got"

"Something to hope and pray for
Something you'd really like
For me winning the lotto
For you a brand new bike"

She then pause and looked at us
And made us think a minute
Then she stood and asked us
"Do you now get what I ment?"

Susan D. raised her hand
And in a timid voice
Said, "A dream is something beautiful
Something really nice!"

Richard added on to her
A little stronger now
"A dream is something you wanna get
And try to get somehow"

"A Dream is something you plan for
And think of all your life
And no matter what leads up to it
You make it turn out right"

And with that the class started
To write their dreams all down
I just stared at my paper
And then I looked around

Susan dreamt of a doll
Richard, him a toy
But the dream that I had thought of
Was not like these girls and boys

I dreamt of something larger
Something stronger still
Something that I wanted
With all my soul and will

I wanted peace on earth
And good will to men
Just like that old Christmas song
I like to listen to again

I wanted something for these boys and girls
Like a gift from above
I looked down at my paper
And wrote one word

LOVE

Wow, this is frackin' goregous. Don't you ever tell me you can't write well EVER again!! This is beautiful, and I love it. :) I particularly loved this stanza [though they're all awesome]

"A Dream is something you plan for
And think of all your life
And no matter what leads up to it
You make it turn out right"

That's really touching, and so true.
