The Voyage

The Voyage

Ahoy! What? What of me leg?
You ask of me, why it\'s a peg?
Aye matey gather near,
A tale is ready for ye to hear

Me Vessel the Mermaid II
Sailed around the ocean blue
Many a dread we\'ve seen
But this one be quite keen

This voyage that i tell
I can remember well
This warn before i start:
Not for the weak o\' hearrrt

The great Atlantic sea
We sailed on week three
The prophecy was a storm
An\' one of frightful form

Midnight on week four
All sea be calm before
then suddenly we\'re hit
Me ship was in half: split

Six terrrible nights a float
With no mate, and no boat
Me tasted salt, day and night
An\' me skin was frightful tight

Day seven gave me a beach
Me slithered to it, a leech
Sweet land, a place to dry
If me couldst, me wouldst cry

Me ventured for a meal
an\' found a dog: some veal
An\' for me to pillage
I spotted a tiny village

Cutlass drawn, I charrrge!
The folk were not too large
Me killed two or three,
But they still overtook me

They tied me on a post.
An\' call me their \"Pot roast\"
Me squirms like a squid,
So they knock me on me lid

The scums set me a fire
But me rubbed against the wire
Me bonds were severed free
Yar! Me ran for the sea!

The natives on me rear
No escape seemed clear
Me ends up on a ledge
No protection, save a hedge

Fury took the natives
Quickly, i was creative
Closer they charged with hate
Their dinner, should been my fate

Collided upon the cliffs
We fell toward sea riffs
Me leg was tied with rope
Now luck was me only hope!

The hedge held me weight
For them: a different fate.
Me climbed back up the cliffs
An\' saw death on the sea riffs

Me leg was sorely broken
But me earned a pretty token
The token be the village
Free for me to pillage

After a time me took a boat
Too the seas i took afloat
Until me eyes spotted home
The seas, i\'d never again roam

An\' that was how me leg
Which now has become a peg
An\' this greatly saddens me
That I\'ll never again sail the sea
