One Small Question

by Lyndsay Kalyta   Jan 28, 2007

I have one small question,
Something I just gotta ask
I'm trying to find out who
Is behind your perfect mask

I only have one question
That I hope you will answer right
It's got me thinking during the day
And it's keeping me up all night

This question isn't difficult
The answer is in your heart
It could pull us closer together
Or completely tear me apart

I'm scared to ask this question
For what if you answer wrong?
You could use eleven
But what I'm hoping for is four words long

My question is scaring me
Because I know when I ask myself
My answer is always the same
Because I don't feel this way for anyone else

If I only had one question
I'd ask this one to you
And I'm working up the courage
Because this question's long overdue

How will you react to my question?
Will you smile and pull me close
Or will you freak and begin to shake
And instantly let me go

This is taking all my courage
But I'm asking you tonight
I'm crying already, and I hope
My makeup's still alright

Think about this carefully
Because, baby, I love you
My one small question is
Do you love me too?
