God and Goddess

The Searing flesh and burning pain
The art of dancing in the rain
And passion of its truest taste
Sorrow of the greatest haste

The God of War, who cannot lose
A fool, a man she had to choose
And upon this land within the sky
She'll laugh, she love, and surely cry

Tears for what his hate has done
Tears for what he has begun
Yet tears of joy will come at last
And help forgive this bloodied past

On the battlefield he resides
To turn the tables of the tide
And here he stands all alone
The bodies dead, all overthrown

And through all the battles he has won
There is still one that is not done
For her he'll fight until the end
And never stop, nor ever bend

He'll dawn his broken sword anew
To reach the mountain's lonely view
And if up there he finds his prize
Watch burning flames dance in his eyes

And with this rain he'd love to dance
And risk it all for just this chance
And forever would he find a way
To steal the night and pass the day

Eurynome the ocean's girl
The beauty of the ocean's pearl
Her slender hands and gentle touch
For him they wait, to mean so much

Yet freezing cold and distant
Whose fear makes her resistant
And sears the flesh another way
Too icy cold for some to stay

Yet Ares here in all his strife
Will make her fire to bring her life
And fire for its destructive path
Has more to mean than pain or wrath

For when callous fire burns deep in scorn
The water's there to cool the thorn
And remind him of the love they share
How stupid to think she doesn't care

Romantic candles from fire glow
And rain outside to heal the snow
To paint the scene for their embrace
Two hearts together with perfect grace

And when heaven's storm rains from the sky
A God and Goddess will wait and lie
Together in a world divine
And drink the drink of sweetest wine

And when her world falls apart
Ares will lean and tell her heart
He'll whisper soft and soothing
As time will pause its endless moving

"I'll always catch you when you fall
And wait and listen for your call
And dry those tears from sea blue eyes
And hold you close under sunset skies"

And Eurynome will hold him close
And never let go of the man she chose
And Ares will whisper "I'll love you forever"
Forever and ever, and ever and ever
