Hiding the pain

He walks gently through the night
as she dreams about another
voices are heard all around
voices saying, "why even bother?'

his heart belongs only to her
yet she plats with it
like a tossing ball in soccer.

she sleeps through the night
as he begins to wonder,
"why is she even here?"
"why does she even bother?"

his heart is breaking slowly
as she drifts away.
leaving him lost and lonely.
