Different Man

by Lyndsay Kalyta   Feb 1, 2007

His body is rough
His heart's not there
Yet she's allowing his hands
To run through her hair
He's kissing her
She's attempting the same
Knowing he'll never
Tell her his name
She's with a different man tonight

His breath is filled
With whiskey and gin
But she lays herself down
And lets him in
He's grabbing her breast
She has to sigh
Tomorrow he won't
Remember tonight
She's with a different man tonight

He's yelling at her
And throwing his fists
She can't sit up
Because she's tied at her wrists
He takes off her clothes
And she cannot fight back
She knows that he thinks
She's a tasty little snack
She's with a different man tonight

He's holding her so close
She can hear his heart beat
For the first time in her life
A man makes her feel complete
He calls her beautiful
And she is falling into
Something unique to her
As he whispers, "I love you"
She knows for once everything is alright
Because she's with a different man tonight

This poem is about a girl who is a prostitute making a living sleeping with a different man each night. Each stanza she's with a new man, and the very last one, she's with a man who actually loves her, which is totally new for her...she feels so lucky.
