Her Dream, Becomes Reality

Her Dream, Becomes Reality

Early Morning she wakes up
Grabs her bag and shes out the door.
She's putting gear on, Riding down the Interstate
Cant Picture a better way,
to spend this Saturday.
The sweet smell of Sulfur on the fields,
A smell shes longed for, for the past two years.
That whistle blowing in her ear
The sight of opponents as they shed a tear.
Covered in sweat as she leaves the field,
A feeling shes longed for, for the past two years.

Then came a noise that just wasn't right,
It took everything outta sight.
As she laid there in her bed,
Missing what could've been
Scared to death she walks down the hall,
Back from x-ray up to the third floor,
The doctor tells her theres some hope.
She fakes a smile, although shes given up.
In the middle of January they'll take out some screws,
Telling her about some good news.
Then she has one short month to get back in shape,
A task she really doesn't want to take.
She's been told for so long she'd never play,
so she thinks, Whats the Point?
They've already taken it away.
The day she steps back onto that field,
She needs to know shes going to do well.
Sitting at the doctors with nothing to say,
Deep down she just wants to throw it all away.
Theres no point in living anymore,
Ever since they took the key to that door.
Every night she lies awake,
Wishing she could go back to that day
Same thing she wishes for every night.
Cause that day she lost more than just her life,
That was the day she died inside,
Never again to be revived.
