One Last Phonecall

by snoweyes   Feb 6, 2007

The ringing phone
Brings a call of loss
He had rang to tell her
that he'd finally pay'd the cost.

He called to say
How much he cared
He wanted her to go on
with the life they'd once shared.

Tears of bitter loss fell down
She let it all out and began to cry
She pondered the question
"How could he die?"

He asked her to be strong
to hold on tight
There's things you can't control
things you can't fight.

His life now hung on a thread
The chapters of his life flew by
He held his precious memories close
as he gave his final sigh.

She felt him leave
his soul fly away and flee
She clutched her heart
He was gone, free.

Both of her dear little boys came up
"mommy, what's wrong?"
My darling babys she said
"It's Daddy. He's gone."

She long looked for hope
In the folds of her heart
She wandered in memories
Long past their start.

She whispered his name deep in the night
His comfort she always sought
but she slept now in peace
An angel's wings love soon brought.
