Damn Phone (Fall Asleep)

by XSugarSexSuicideX   Feb 9, 2007

Didn't fall asleep
'Till around 1:30 last night,
Didn't have the strength
To stop the tears,
Couldn't see why everyone
Was feeling all right,
When my world was crashing down
And all I could see were my fears.
And then I picked up the phone,
And I tried to call you,
I made a one-time attempt
To even try to understand you,
And as I heard that damn phone ringing,
And I knew you weren't 'bout to
Pick it up,
I left that damn phone ringing,
And I tried again,
To fall asleep.
Stayed up late last night,
Watching movies 'till the dawn,
Didn't even notice the sun come up,
And as I turned off the last video,
I heard my mom wake up,
And I dove straight into bed without a sound.
And then I picked up my phone,
And I tried to call you,
I made a one-time attempt
To try to get a hold of you,
And as I heard that damn phone ringing,
I knew you weren't 'bout to
Pick it up,
So I left that damn phone ringing,
And I tried again
To fall asleep.
The conversation keeps coming back to me,
Something about staying up all night,
And Lord, all I'm thinking
Is how crazy we can be,
To stay on the phone all night,
Without putting up a fight,
Or falling fast asleep,
While the other person's fishing
For a damn light!
So then I picked up my phone,
And I tried to call you,
I made a one-time attempt
To try to talk to you,
And as I heard that damn phone ringing,
I knew you weren't going to
Pick it up,
So I slammed down that
Damn phone,
And I tried once again
To fall asleep.

Long but very sad. i have had something like that happen to me. a little different tho. lol.

it is hard to write poems which portray a story in them, you did. clap clap. but what makes this poem special is that every line only has a few words in it. that makes it harder to do it all. bravo!
