All I Need

by Just Sierra   Feb 11, 2007

Winter came and swept all branches bear
And from the hard soil, I simply lied there
Clasping my heart with my cold, dead, limbs
Despite the harsh bitterness, I only feel for him.

My heart was frozen forever, so it would seem
And then you came, so perfect, like torn from a dream
And I held so tight, afraid of the blowing wind
For it would steal my smile, my very love for him

And he came and went like all the seasons
Returning so strong for all his own reasons
And still I held on until my love began to tire
I lay in soil, until darkness turned tears to fire

I feel so numb to the world and all of its deceit,
Without him, there is nothing, and I am not complete.
But although winter brings pain and hope is grim
I hold on for one reason-and that reason is him.

So bring on the wind, let it steal my pain away
And along with it, leave me dead, withered and gray
Let winter throw at me the worst of its windy weather
I'll wait until summer, when in warmth, we'll be together.

Come on, dear Winter, I'm ready for you now.
Bury me in snow and tears, I'm ready anyhow.
Dig me a grave, so deep, where the only light is dim.
I need only one thing to live, and that one thing is him.

This is amazing!! I positively love it. Made me think of Jo Dee Messina's song 'Bring On The Rain'. If you've ever heard it maybe you know why. Anyway, this poem is inspiring for those who go through this. Superb!
