A childs moon

by MyDevotion   Feb 12, 2007

When I was young
I'd look up at the sky
and only wonder why

The moon shown so slim
only a sliver was there
the universe seemed bare

While in bed
i'd lay up all night
thinking about it's light

Wondering what it would be like
if the moon became bright
would it be as strong as the suns might

The next day there was half a moon
more than before
it seemed too soon

My curiosity grew
imagination ran wild
i was still just a child

The bed was my boat
the moon was my castle
and the sky was my moat

My room was a battle field
a stick my sword
killing a teddy bear hoard

A toy chest a plane
soaring through the clouds
of my imagination, i was proud

The rug became lava
and at a glance
pillow case steps were your only chance

A look out the window
the moon was full, light rushing out
charging as fierce as a bull

The nights dark water flowed around
my ship was docked
a future seemingly locked

I got aboard
the captain greeted
and i was seated

the ship left to the sky
and to my house
i waved my last good byes

we sailed into the silver moon
my mind fell asleep
as I pulled my blanket over my feet
