A song of Ascension

by Daniel J   Feb 12, 2007

(Psalms 137 rehashed. Do tell me what you think of it...):

By the rivers of Babylon,
Where we sat and wept,
Remembering our city Zion,
And the songs which across it swept.

Upon those rivers,
We were told to play,
"Let your harp quiver,
As it did in Zion's day!"

Each turned to his fellow,
With a tearful face,
"How can we play our music mellow,
In this foreign place?"

Let my right hand lose its skill,
If ever I forget Zion's face,
Let my voice be forever still,
Should I forget her pleasant grace.

Oh, I shan't forget you Zion,
You shall be my foremost joy,
Oh, God shan't forget you Babylon,
Whom His city you did destroy.
