Heart

Please help me remember,
cause i know i have forgotten,
how to be happy.
i know i used to be,
cause i see pictures of a smiling me,
but now all i do is cry.
but even as i try to feel,
the sun shining on my face,
my blood is cold with guilt.
for even as i say this prayer,
a message to the wind,
my soul is becoming thin.
for i know that if i were
to lose this heart of black,
i know that i would not survive, and never would come back.
