Walk AWay

by Brittany   Feb 16, 2007

Her eyes swept through his,
a look of astonishment on her face,
no, it couldn't be true,
without her knowledge she'd been replaced.

He stood there trying to explain,
she couldn't believe her ears.
in moments she lost it all,
he gave life to her deepest fears.

She held her finger to his lips,
there was nothing left to say,
she turned her back on him,
and quietly walked away.

Away from everything he was,
away from his lying eyes,
away from the source of pain,
he'd never hear her cries.

Away from all the memories,
from everything they shared,
away from her perfect love,
she knew he never cared.

In only seconds he was gone,
his words had ripped through her heart,
she was wounded and alone,
completely torn apart.

She wouldn't let it change her,
she wouldn't bow her head,
she saw no point in mourning
no point in living like the dead.

She knew it was defiantly over,
and allowed herself a single tear,
then she put it all behind her,
finally rid of her only fear.
