Falling Apart

by Brittany   Feb 16, 2007

Staring at the wall,
she sat on the bathroom floor,
she could hear their voices clearly,
hidden behind a locked door.

Her boyfriend and her mom,
had been talking for some time,
their words were so cold,
like she was a suspect in crime.

They both criticized her,
like she was some kind of disease,
but they didn't understand,
they were so hard to please.

She closed her eyes against the pain,
their words slashed her heart,
she was loosing the pieces,
she was falling apart.

If only they would listen,
if only they knew,
then they'd understand,
just what she's going through.

But they never took the time,
they just knew what they saw,
she was a good pretender,
she hid the truth from them all.

She just couldn't forget,
and just couldn't let go,
of the pain deep inside,
the hurt destroyed her soul.

Their words lashed out once again,
she ran the blade across her thigh,
they didn't comprehend the pain she was in,
it was too late now to try.

The blood pooled down her leg
but it was not enough,
she couldn't face them after what she'd heard,
inside she wasn't that tough.

She gripped the blade,
and said a prayer,
tore open her wrist,
and died right there.

They found her an hour later,
but by then it was too late,
they would never know what they'd done
or how they'd designed her fate.

If just one person would have cared,
or have taken her to their side,
that pretty little girl,
wouldn't have cut herself and died.
