Let Go

I told my mother that
I wouldn't talk to them again,
And as much as it hurt me,
I let go of all my friends.
I promised that I wouldn't call,
I said I wouldn't write,
I gave in and I gave up,
Didn't even put up a fight.
I said I loved him,
I outright told her so,
And she just shook her haid and said
I had really let it show.
She said if her cared,
He would wait for me,
I told her I didn't know
If I could last four years.
She said if they worried,
They could tell anybody,
I told her I was the only one
Who could assure them not to worry.
But I also told my mother that
I wouldn't talk to them,
So late last night, I did it,
I let go of all my friends.
