The Love Tree

by Michelle   Mar 2, 2007

I sat there by the tree of love.
waiting for something great.
I sat there wondering what will come
not knowing it would be the bird of hate.

It tried to come near me
but I latched on to the tree bark.
it tried to touch me
and its eyes were so dark.

The tree told me it would protect me
from the fluttering wings of wrong.
the tree grinned
until the bird of hate started to sing a song.

It sang how naive I was
and how Im falling into the love tree's trap.
It sang how stupid I was
for sitting in a lie's lap.

I didn't believe a word of the song
that the bird of hate had sang.
I didn't trust the evil beak
of which ruled of terror and pain.

I sat there hugging the tree of love
thinking it would all be alright.
I sat there happy
until the tree pushed me into the bird of hates sight.

I looked back quickly
yet very horrified.
The tree of love just disappeared.
The tree of love had lied.

The hatred bird swooped down from the sky
glad that the tree and I were apart.
He flew down from the clouds
bent over and bit my heart.

Hate ran through my blood
and now I know whats right.
That the tree of love wasn't real.
I made it up from fright.
