Earth angel

God picks certain angels,
To go and live in the world,
To you he gave a special job,
To take care of a girl.

He said exactly what to say,
And said don't get to close,
Do not fall in love with her,
The thing you wanted most.

He told you all of the troubles,
The pain that she'd go through,
You had to get her back in church,
You knew what you had to do.

You was send to earth as a farmers son,
To one who's faith was weak,
Your mother knew who you were,
And who she could not speak.

You grew up, and God said,"It's time,
To go and do your work,
To help this young girl,
To manage here on earth."

A few weeks ago,
You finished every chore,
You knew your time had run out,
Though you begged God for more.

You fell sick, fear in your mothers eyes,
Your time had run slim,
As you fell onto the hard concrete,
The light becoming dim.

"Please dear God, don't make me leave,
I can't help but love the girl,
She makes my day with her smile,
She has become my world."

"I wanna live here on earth,
Live a normal humans life,
I wanna live until I'm 100,
Make that girl my wife."

You fell unconscious,
And to your surprise,
Standing beside the lone hospital bed,
Waking up to the beeping monitors
Your girl touching your head.

I looked into your baby blue eyes,
And I seen the most beautiful things,
I fixed your halo, nice and strait,
And pat you on your wings.

I told you I loved you,
And never wanted you to go,
That you was my earth angel,
And now I want you to know.

I prayed to God,
He told me everything,
To the halo, the stars and the wings.
He told me you was sent for me,
And lost more wonderful things.

But here's the twist, you didn't know,
I am your earth angel too.
God sent me to help with hard times,
Now it's my turn to help you.
