As I sit in lonely darkness
And caress the pain inside
Feeling the tender moments
That hold in shards of time

The shattering of pieces
Of a soul that lost its breath
Are humbled by the heartache
That was singled out for death.

Into the night come whispers
Of a hurt laced with despair
Of hunger that is holding
Onto times we two had shared.

But just a memory has found
A path into my soul
With little pieces of a wound
To follow where I go.

No trust in love has risen
From the anger of a lie
Among the words are captured
By the truth, that's left to write

So distant is the darkness
Of a light that lost its glow
A flicker of resistance
To a love so long ago.

Now passes on the pages
Of a life that we once knew
And rests upon the broken soul
That died from loving you.
