Nothing Gold

by Sara   Mar 17, 2007

This poem was written to my little brother's middle school class when he graduated last year, from his English teacher, and it truly made me cry...

On the grass at City Hall
I'll see you, some for the last time
Know that I'll be standing tall
Proud that you were once mine

Day after day I've seen your face
I've watched you grow in many ways
As you turn and leave this place
Remember your beauty stays

Something students rarely know
Is how they affect their teachers' lives
If I ever came in feeling low
Your faces made my spirits rise

You'll never know how much it meant
Your kind words, smiles, and insightful thoughts
Being with you was time well spent
My heart and soul you have caught

Be aware that you'll never leave my mind
I'll forever wonder how you are
If you find the world to be unkind
Know a friend is never far

Stay true to yourself through internal conflicts
Be careful, be safe, be proud, be smart
To the class of 2006
Know you'll forever be my home in the heart
