Reflections of Love.....

by Tom K   Mar 17, 2007

It seemed like only yesterday,
When you were yet just a child.
Now you're a beautiful young woman,
Dressed up pretty in the latest style.

I watched you grow from childhood,
Embracing each and every day.
From that sweet little brown eyed girl,
Now so lovely in each and every way.

Life hasn't always been easy I know.
Sometimes pain and hurt came your way.
But your faith always stayed the course,
And your prayers made it all seem okay.

Now I watch you falling in love,
Seeing the smiles that cross your face.
I hear the joyfulness in your voice,
Yet remember you in ruffles and lace.

I see you look at him and smile,
As the two of you share a private thought.
Forgetting the world for just a moment,
Then laughing, as you were caught.

It doesn't seem like it was so long ago,
You were blowing out candles and making a wish.
Now you sit there giggling and blushing,
As your boyfriend sneaks another kiss.

This sweet little girl I once knew,
Has grown and blossomed oh so fast.
Time has surely come and gone,
But the child in her will always last.

No matter how many years come and go,
Or whatever life circumstances shall be.
That pretty little girl I watch grow up
Will always be sweet little Kaylee to me

I wrote this for my niece, whom I have watched grow from a child to a beautiful young woman. And now its exciting to watch her embrace life and it's changes. tom

The children whom we love no matter how old they are . We still see them as the little ones who captured our hearts. Loved this piece :)

This was a very nice poem as well. Almost reminds me of the changes my girl is going through even though she's still little.
    Nice job.
