The Beauty Within

by Romancing the Darker Side   Mar 18, 2007

She arrives at the gate
Old iron and worn
Her rags are falling off her
Her hair tangled and torn

Eyes clear like crystal
Yet blue as glass
She needs to get inside
Once more she must pass

Violent lightning strikes down
She beats the iron gate
She needs to rescue her destiny
Must represent her fate

He will not be inside
Once she will enter
Completely unaware
Knowing nothing will mend her

She cries into the forest
She screams into the night
A lonely castle sits before her
Shining a most untender light

Pulling the bars
She wretches her way inside
The girl's name is Hope
But access is denied

Flailing onto the ground
She cries bloody loss
Falling asleep
Hope will tremble and toss

Her love is not inside
Yet she thinks it is so
Taken prisoner of hate
She enters the flow

Knocking the door
Every so slightly
When no one answers
She wraps her rags tightly

A beggar she is called
With greasy black hair
She tries the doorbell
Leading only to despair

A whisper calls to her,
"Come with me child
Together we shall find him,
Your love tender and mild"

She crawls to the voice
But the winds are too loud
She wonders if her love
Has turned to a black cloud

She reaches the bearer
Dressed in black cloak
"Come with me, won't you?"
This is a strange folk

She takes the hand of another
The one wearing the mask
As it lays out before her
A most dangerous task...
