Listen

by x Mo x   Mar 18, 2007

Close your eyes and listen.
Listen for the silent tears.
Listen for all the doubts.
Listen for all the fears.

The world is full of pain.
Listen and you'll soon hear
Of the sorrow of friends
Both far away and near.

Now look around you.
No one wants to cry.
They don't want to care.
They hold back tears in a lie.

On the outside they smile.
But inside it's not the same.
Their hearts carry everything;
Every lie, every pain.

So close your eyes and listen.
Listen to every thought.
You'll soon hear of silent wars
Everyone has fought.

Your descriptions of the world are the same as mine, The world has a lot of suffering it in, and we go through are daily lifes acting like everything is ok, we pretend to be happy, we act like everything is just great, but inside we slowly tear ourselfs apart. Very well writen poem though.

This poem is truly wonderful. I have several (crappy) poems about listening, similar to this one. A line from one of my poems is, "learn to read people's hearts, and not their faces." <--Something like that. You capture the same idea. Good writing.
