The Cage

by sian   Mar 21, 2007

Holds me in and keeps me down,
Locks are locked and keys are hid,
Now behind this glass I'll drown,
Just so you can all be rid.

Blood is seeping, falling, dripping,
but they cant see it on the floor,
away my image has been slipping,
slowly to where I lay before.

Lost forgotten, sickness in a rage,
eyes shut tight, sleep encased,
death becomes such a young age,
body wrapped in jewels and laced.

My tears mean nothing anymore,
they fall so often I cannot think,
My eyes it seems are always sore
my tears now I write with ink.

One for the shadow I have become,
one for each forgotten smile,
one for the love I still have for some,
and another for each painful mile.

For in this cage I am no more,
I do not smile, I just think back,
In love I am left empty hand and poor,
I cannot even pay for what I lack.
