Stay strong, my soldier

by bethany   Mar 25, 2007

I saw the look on your face
when you opened the door
i peeked out the window
and i knew it was for sure

i begged you not to go
said please daddy, stay
you ignored my desperate pleads
and went away

you hugged me one last time
and i wouldn't let you go
because i knew if i did
you might never show

but you pried me loose
and tears filled my eyes
i brushed them away
and said my goodbyes

months flew by
though it seemed like forever
and i saw that red car
my mommy kept screaming never

because you made a promise
to come back soon
but you left me here
in the middle of June

now Mommy's an addict
they took her away
now I'm living with a fake family
and all i can do is pray

pray that you'll come back
because i need you dad
and i need my mommy
i want the family i never had

my new mother hates me
my new father hits me
i can't get away
from all this insanity

help me get through
help me survive
i need you back
i need you to be alive

i love you , my soldier
i love you my dad
i will never forget you
i want the family i never had

the family i never had
but life isn't fair
i trusted you
you promised you'd always be there

so if you can lie
then i can too
so ill tell you my daddy
I'll stay strong my soldier
i'll stay strong for you.
