Sadness coursing through my veins
Enveloping my soul
Nothing can stop the bitterness
Or ever make me whole
Stuck in a spiral downward
Living in the shadows
The darkness is my only comfort
My true feeling never shows
That feeling would be loneliness
The sorrow overwhelming
So strong this emotion is
Friends and family find me frightening
Nothing to do but try and rise
Out of the darkness
Into the light of life
Even though it seems hopeless
Struggling to reach my goal
I find many obstacles in my way
Using my strength gained from the darkness
The black, at last, turns grey
