Broken Angel

by Brianna Breakkdown   Apr 1, 2007

A dying angel on the ground
She cries out without making a sound
Innocence and beauty left unfound
In this dark and dusty abyss

She can't bring herself to stare at the phantom faces
She tries, but can't escape to faraway places
Lost in the shattered remains, the traces
Of a tattered and broken heart

Daylight doesn't dare venture here
All possible warmth quivers away in fear
Her body's too dry to shed one more tear
To somehow express her pain

Her arms and legs shake like fragile leaves in the storm
Only her blood can keep her warm
As another evil slowly takes form
And this angel is no longer herself

Blood seeps from her eyes in a blackened river
At the icy cold hatred, she doesn't shiver
Her words and chants continue to deliver
A curse upon the world

The halo falls and shatters in the dirt
And the monster derived from the endless hurt
Cleverly begins to flirt
With the option of her death

An invisible knife plunges into her heart
She feels no pain of being torn apart
She waits for her soul depart
But barely even bleeds

The black abyss in her eyes
Gazes toward misty skies
And silently she cries
"Please let me die."

Her knees collapse and she hits the ground with an ear-shattering crash
Her arms and legs and fingers violently thrash
And with another smash
Her skull shatters on the floor

With an unbearable throbbing, she raises her head
Broken records of his voice blaring what he'd said
The words that made her wish she was dead
But wouldn't allow her to die

Blood and tears streak down the face
That hadn't showed pain, not even a trace
The innocent girl who smiled with grace
Is gone and will never return

With ear-throttling volume, she demonically screams
Her heart being wrenched and slashed, ripped at the seams
A bloody trickle down her white gown gleams
In the burning, synthetic light

Reality settles in as she grabs her arms, her nails slicing through her skin
Her heart is shattered, her sanity worn thin
She curses herself for ever letting him in
And slowly closes her eyes

Beside her in blood, written in her sleep
"Return my heart, it's not yours to keep,
And until that day I vow to reap
Your soul and those around you."

It glistens in a fire's glow
that burns the fragments of her shattered halo
And all these things just go to show
How much you broke my heart

That's right, you've got it, you've finally caught on
It's been like this all along
This whole story, this little song
Is all about what you've done to me

I used to be happy, everything was once fine
My eyes shone bright when you were mine
The broken soul on which you now dine
Has forever disappeared

I hope that you remember just what your lies can do
All of the torture you put me through
How much pain can come from what is untrue
And because of them, I'm a broken angel on the ground
