The Perfect Day

by Twisted Heart   Apr 2, 2007

It was a perfect day, today
The sun fell warm upon my face
And just an inkling of a breeze
Lifted my hair with graceful ease

The flowers fresh in morning's dew
Spread elegance with their perfume
And glances of the birds in flight
Brought to me such a lovely site.

The afternoon, bid me hello
Mountains peaked with thawing snow
Capturing the sparkled rays
Like diamonds bright put on display.

The evening dusk brought fireflies
Mixed with fading sun's red light
As calming tides lapped on the shore
Anticipating what was in store.

Now is the night of gentle winds
A welcome like a long lost friend
Has come to sit upon the earth
And cloak the stars in its birth.

A perfect day, it was today
Each miracle that God had made
Lent to my soul a lovely tune
A song that ended way to soon.

This is a delightful piece, and a joy to read. I've been somewhat jaded and melancholy of late (something which has all but driven me from P&Q) and this was a really good poem to shake off those cobwebs. Thank you. :-)
