Wake

by Wings Of Flames   Apr 11, 2007

Wake

I pull the sheets from my head,
I breathe in the fumes of today,
A stench of blood and tears,
And a sence that spirit's fray,

I clamber into my shell,
Hope someone hears my call,
Tired yet I'm so awake,
Of hearing those who fall,

My courage lightens to break,
The darkness lifts to light,
I stand upon my own two feet,
And strength helps me to fight,

I take a step and feel quite pleased,
A battle I have won,
I take another and so fourth,
And suddenly I run,

I fear the bed's closeness,
Again, I'll never tred,
Passion drives me to my life,
And to this I have fled,

Happiness fills my soul,
A blindness lifts my weight,
My muscles pull me forward,
As my head sets me straight.

This is about a patient coming out of hospital after being unable to move their legs.

This is a wonderfully inspirational poem. Your flow and beat is a bit off at some points, but your passion is wonderful. Great job. :)

It's a very inspiring piece and gives you something to think about. After a brief stint in hospital myself, i can understand the feeling of hopelessness and confinement.
You hit the nail on the head with this poem
