Choices

Choisir, elegir, wahlen, scegliere, escolherâ
to choose
it doesn't matter how you say it,
choice is probably the most powerful
option we as humans are given.
Everyday, we face choices.
And every choice we make affects
How we are as people.
Choice doesn't just mean we have power
Over what happens to us.
Sometimes, we make the wrong choices.
But we can choose how we deal with mistakes.
We can let regret consume us,
Or we can learn from it.
We can choose to let things affect us
Negatively,
We can choose to let things upset us,
Or we can make the choice to move on,
Stronger and wiser than we were before.
We can choose to ignore the warning signs,
And we can choose to let ourselves be
Taken in by lies and deceit.
Or we can choose to open our eyes,
Even if it means seeing things our hearts
Don't necessarily want us to see.
Sometimes, it's hard to make those choices.
It's easier to put your head under the pillow, cry,
And hope that all your problems will
Somehow fade away.
But hiding from things does nothing.
To move on from things,
We have to make a conscious choice to do it.
We might not want to move on,
We might continue to let ourselves be played,
But one day, we will open our eyes.
Each and every one of us has the power to choose.
Its up to us whether we use that power
To change things for better or worse.
