A Prayer For Virginia Tech. (Club Collab)

by Sherry Lynn   Apr 18, 2007

Grieving and mourning our loss,
The nation gathered today.
Asking the heavens for consolation,
We bow our heads and pray.

And at the closing of today,
A peaceful rest we will lay
And our pain will lift away
With each and every prayer we say

With each tear shed
The mending of a heart begins
Grieving parents standing tall
Trying to find answers for their loss

But we grow strong for the ones we've lost.
We knew they cared.
And they'd only want the best for us.
So we pray and find strength for the ones that have went away.

And on this most bloody day
We ask that you extend your arm
To keep these stolen souls
From any further harm

Protect these souls as they ascend
There lives came to such an abrupt end
A random act of violence
Took their innocence
Smearing death and evil
Throughout the echoing halls
Of a school in fear
May the rest of the world
Recognize the evil
That no longer rests

Let their deaths
Not be in vain
So that we may rest
With peace once again.

I really like the poem. This incident came as a shock to me when our school put us in lockdown. I live about a close 30 mins. away from VT. Good poem.
