World Peace

by Romancing the Darker Side   Apr 19, 2007

Hunger pains bother the child
"No food left" he is told
His hunger shall rumble on
His family has been sold

A nun sits under the birch tree
Praying to God she can leave
The church she was born into
Always will lie and deceive

Acused of bad-mouthing his country
A man hangs at six tonight
Dead for standing up to his peers
And believing in what was right

A soldier sits at camp
Writing his dearest friend
He can't take this anymore
Tonight his life will end

A girl walks home with her head down
She gets bullied every day
Beaten, bruised, punched, and broken
In any possible way

"What is world peace?"
A child asks, he really must persist
"World peace, m'dear?" someone replies
"That never shall exist"

~~~~~~~~~~~
Each stanza is a different scenario, set at different times. EX: slavery, bullying... etc.
    I'm no fan of one liners.
    Unfortunately, all I can really think to say to this piece is "too true."
