There is a Heaven for Volunteers

by Manda Duhh   Apr 23, 2007

In loving memory of Robert Smithwick (Bob)

10 July 1938 to 18 April 2007

A poem was written and I love it so much that I am going to share it to the world and that we will miss ya Bob

Many will be shocked to find

When the day of judgment nears,

There's a special place in Heaven

Set aside for volunteers;

Satin couches and footstools,

Where there's no District Coordinator.

No Local Controllers, no car pools.

No eager group that need leaders

No raffles or sweets for sale.

There will be nothing to staple,

Not one tarp to fold and bale

Call out lists will be outlawed,

But a finger's snap will bring

Cool drinks and gourmet dinners

and rare treats to fit a Queen or a King.

Who'll serve these privileged few

And work for all they're worth?

Why all those who reaped the benefits

And NOT ONCE volunteered

on Earth.

Sadly missed by his family, past and present members of the SES and Cadets and everyone in the local community

Robert Smithwick (Bob)

10 July 1938 to 18 April 2007

We love ya Bob now and for always
