The Shadows

by This Soul of Mine   Apr 24, 2007

If (insert bad thing here) were a shadow
Then God would be the light
He'd stamp out every curs'ed thing
That wretches in the night

The thieving, lying, sneering bunch
That gathers on my wall
Take from me what they can find
One time, they took it all

Who knows about those in my closet
The ones that reek of pain
They ravage my soul for something
They know they cannot gain

And a very few reside
in a place I cannot name
For fear of scaring my readers
with their mischievous little games

I hardly think it's funny,
The sneaky things they do
Their whispers want to lead hearts astray
And now I'm telling you

If you're doing something you know is wrong
And you'd like to change your ways
Those shadows are your problem
And that's why Jesus saves
