One way

by doug frazier   Apr 26, 2007

One to many times I left the one I love behind,
She said she'd always love me, I guess she changed her mind.
The ring told me forever, her lips told me goodbye,
Too many nights alone, her needs not satisfied.

it's one way up and one way down, a steady fall from grace,
the stage life makes me happy, as the tears run down my face.
One way i'm going to keep her, either way the dream will end,
it's one hell of a sacrifice, to pick up the pieces again.

A drumbeat and a microphone, have been my mistress in the night,
i've never held another, but her wrongs don't make it right.
I love away the hours in, every town I play,
With a guitar and a little stool, that sits at center stage.

Now it's one way up and one way down, a steady fall from grace,
The stage life makes me happy, as the tears run down my face.
One way I'm going to keep her, either way the dream will end,
it's one hell of a sacrifice to pick up the pieces again.

The twist and turns to stardom can have a price to high to pay,
And you know the ride is over, when a two way turns, One Way!

The blood of a poets broken heart shows up well on the white page with words that show the cracks and depths of that wounded heart. Keep up the good works.
