I've slept at a hotel in California,
And paced back and forth through the cellar door,
Watching humanity use literality
To destroy itself virtually,
With laws nothing more than the doctrine of self destruction,
Written by the authors of no less than Armageddon, lawyers.
I stood on a beach and stared at the sea,
While I watched little twinkling stars,
Dance with the moonlight across your eyes,
That's actually precisely when lies fade to black.
It's about rules of engagement, experimental protocol,
And practical applications in real time,
Because no cares about non-localized phenomena,
Anymore than I cared about any of them.
Ideal, flawless and perfect,
What could be better than .......
Payment for time spent oh so sublime,
Don't you just love it when you know its wrong,
And you know your going to do it anyway,
Such beautifully symmetrical clarity of a few fleeting moments,
Washed away like dreams by the tide of war,
Over nothing more than internalized conflict.
About half of the people pray for each other,
The only problem is the other half still prey upon everyone.
I'm far sighted you see, I cant see things too close up,
Distance affords perspective, and through perspective
Like everyone else since the dawn of time,
Give this thing called life my own meaning,
I simply wish it wasn't so meaningless by social proxy.
Love doesn't conquer all, eternity won't last forever,
Light doesn't always reign, darkness doesn't always fall,
I can feel it in my bones, blood, mind and soul.
I know now what I only once thought.
Stretch the bounds of cosmic reason,
Tis the season to commit enlightened treason,
I'll make an unbeliever into you yet,
Because the only beliefs left aren't right at all,
And have lead to all too many backward wrongs.
