A Year Ago Today

How can we make today seem
Like just another day

Holding in words we're afraid to say.

It's been a while, Brent, since someone has said your name
Maybe we thought if we kept quiet about you
That time in our lives would just fade away.

We've picked up the peices,
Moved on now, and kid, I think that's great

It's been a while since I've written about you
But you're always in my thoughts some way
I've been thinking about you a lot lately,
It was a year ago today.

It's been one year since we lost it
Letting tears stream down our face
Hearing something happened to you,
It was more than we could take.

We kept are hopes high
But all we wanted to do was break
You were in our thoughts, prayers, hopes
Every moment we were awake.

Perhaps the worst day of those two weeks
Or maybe it was the best
It was May 8th, a Monday,
When you could finally rest.

When the angels decided they needed you
When you left us for that better place
When they told us that we lost you,
There wasn't a dry face.

It's been a whole year today
And I bet you're proud we all made it through
